Aftercare Advice
In order to enjoy the full benefits of your beauty therapy treatment, and to avoid potential unwanted side effects (contra-actions) it is important to follow the appropriate aftercare advice.
The skin is especially vulnerable after depilatory waxing. Thus, it particularly important to follow your waxing aftercare advice. Lack of proper aftercare may result in ingrowing hairs, infected follicles and other problems.
Depilatory Waxing
- Do not touch area for 12 hours, as open pores increase the risk of infection.
- Avoid the following for 24 hours:
•wearing tight-fitting clothes.
•swimming or jacuzzi.
•hot baths or showers (use tepid water).
•heat or steam treatments.
•makeup, including self-tan.
•perfumed products. - Exfoliate after 48 hours.
- Moisturize keep the skin supple, and exfoliate regularly to prevent ingrowing hairs.
Facial Treatments
- Avoid wearing makeup for at least 12 hours.
- Leave the skin alone, as it has already been stimulated and nourished.
- Lightly cleanse, tone and moisturize in the evening if necessary.
Eyebrow Shaping
- No eye makeup for at least 12 hours, as the pores are open and infection may occur.
- If discomfort or reddening of the skin persists:
•cleanse using a mild antiseptic lotion or witch hazel applied with damp cotton wool.
•apply antiseptic lotion or cream with clean, dry cotton wool.
•gently remove excess antiseptic with a clean soft tissue.
•repeat as necessary, approximately every 4 hours.
•if reaction persists for more than 24 hours, see your GP.
